Loneliness heals

People say you need help of doctor in case there is something wrong with your mental or physical health, but I guess it is better to deal with your depression on your own and you will become stringer. If there is a depression than there is a reason for you to be depressed and there is no such a person in this world who know better about that reason. So, you have to find that reason and remove it. In this case you need silence and loneliness. The lonely silence is the perfect condition for you to hear you. See, when there are people around you and troubles around you then there is too much of noise around you and you can’t hear your own self. But, when you are alone and there are no people to talk to and to argue with then you can hear your own self. You only have to be a careful listener and you will learn everything you need to learn and soon you will realize what the reason for your depression is. And if you know a reason then it means that you can dispose it and get out of the depression.

Soul-searching

Depression is not that bad actually. Depression for people is like the pit-stop they really need, see, when everything is okay with you then you keep running and you are the member of this race we call life. And there are always things people miss in this race though they never notice that because they are too fast to stop and look around. But, then depression comes and calms people down. Depression makes people stop and think over this life they have and over everything they have in this life and over those things they develop their lives around, you know. Depression makes people stay at home and not to let other people there and there is only a person and her or his thoughts left. And it is a great time and high time for soul-search. I mean, in case you are depressed then it means that there is something wrong with your life, may be you have chosen the wrong way or something. Depression makes you stop and listen to yourself and those things of you that you haven’t heard before because you were too busy with the race. And in this case depression may be a beginning of something new.

The feeling of “life is sucks”

Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you like everything you see around you. You see how bright and warm the sun is and you hear those beautiful songs of tiny birds and you see everything and you feel everything that makes this world beautiful. But, sometimes you wake up and you feel the different way and that way is a way of depression. It is like everything around you is dull and sad and there is nothing beautiful in the world. You see people as the most cruel and ugly creatures n the world, and the sun is terribly hot and burns out air you breathe with. There is no such a person in the world who would never feel this way at least once in the life. It is a terrible feeling that makes us angry and annoying and irritated. It comes easily but it is hard to get rid of it and depression may last for some days or even months. And there are a lot of thoughts people have and most of those are just as dull as their mood and with those thoughts that can ruin a lot. It is depression that sometimes induces people to reappraisal of values.

It’s a little disturbing

It’s a little disturbing that the medical community has decided that if you are treated for depression once that you are forever labeled with a depression related disorder. Depression on your record means that you are doomed to suffer from depression forever, at least in the eyes of most physicians. Where is the room for growth? Where is the room for learning and understanding? Is there a reason that we aren’t permitted to experience depression after a significant loss and then learn later how to make peace with it? It seems more than just a little limiting that the depression of one year has to be incorporated into your treatment for the rest of your life.

Depression does not have to be a life long sentence and when the medical community refuses to acknowledge that there is growth amongst its patients, isn’t it possible to determine someone is depressed when they are not? When we cop to depression in our lives are we somehow inviting the medical community to change the way they treat us for every physical ailment that we have? The bottom line is that the medical community can’t allow us the chance to grow and leave a one time depression behind us because then they run the risk of being sued. If they allow us to grow, and one person dies by their own hand years after a bout of depression, there is a lawsuit waiting to happen. So the rest of us have to be chronically depressed according to the medical community to help prevent any future lawsuits.

Malm Depression

If you look at the statistics regarding depression it would seem that perhaps this might be a contagious disease. In the last thirty years more cases of depression have been diagnosed than there were in the previous one hundred years put together. So either life is that much more difficult, depression is a contagion, or there are people on medication for depression that might not need to be. Who knows? With our internally heated homes, modern conveniences, food at the grocery store that is already prepared, and electronic devices to help keep us connected to everyone we love I would find it hard to determine that life is harder now than it was one hundred years ago. Our modernization has simplified much of life’s hassles and allowed us to get more done in a shorter period of time.

Considering that I have seen some extremely depressed people in my life and haven’t come down with it immediately after, I would have to determine that it isn’t a contagious disease. Sure, I have suffered from periods of depression and they aren’t pleasant. I don’t like the feeling and most of us find the feeling very uncomfortable. But that doesn’t mean I have any sort of chronic condition. Situations and our lack of preparedness for those situations can invite depression, as can loss, financial pressure, and even happy changes like a new job or baby. These are not situations that can be medicated. One has to question, with depression at an all time high and growing in numbers, if the drug companies aren’t somehow more interested in finding doctors who like to diagnose depression even when it is a short term situational feeling. While depression in its clinical form can be very serious, our increase in medicating the depressed has not decreased our suicide rate. Perhaps it is time to evaluate our definition of depression.
